After a vist to Leap Castle we arrived in Dublin. Was so excited to eat lunch at John Kavanaugh's Gravediggers Pub. Has always been on my list of places to go and was worth it. The food was great. After lunch we visited Glasnevin Cemetery . This cemetery was founded by Daniel O'Connell. Glasnevin exceeded my expectations and I hope to go back. Last stop was the Guinness Storehouse. Tonight we had a fun Halloween evening of storytelling the Brazen Head Pub that dates back to 1198. Unfortunately my camera battery was dead and I did not get photos at the Brazen Head. Johnny was a very good storyteller.
After a long day of driving we settled into the Kinnitty Castle Hotel for the night. Had a wonderful dinner after drinks in the library bar.
What can I say, I love Dingle!!! Had a pint of Creans for Mike & Kathy, wish you were here! Got to celebrate another birthday today, Joan. This has been the second time to celebrate her birthday in Ireland! Our only scheduled visit of the day was Bantry House & Gardens. The remainder of the day was spent meandering our way to Kilkenny. Saw amazing rainbows today! So happy to be spending the next two nights in one of my favorite hotels, The Malton. Today we visited Charles Fort followed by a walking tour of Kinsale led by Barry Maloney. Was saddened to hear of the passing of Mick Lavelle, a wonderful storyteller from Westport. Today we visited the Rock of Cashel once the seat of Munster. St. Patrick visited the rock in 450. There is so much history here. Next stop is Blarney Castle. We had time to visit the castle, eat lunch, and shop. Our final stop on the way to Kinsale was the English Market in Cork City. The origins of the market can be traced back to 1610. Finally we made it to Kinsale where we celebrated Colin's 13th birthday. What great fun to celebrate your 13th birthday in Ireland.Had a beautiful ride from Kilkennt to Kinsale. First stop at Rock of Cashel then Blarney, and English Market in Cork before arriving in Kinsale. Had a smooth flight to Dublin. After being met by our driver, Aidan, our first stop of the day was Glendalough. Got caught in the rain. Welcome to Ireland! Haha I love Kerry Gold butter especially after visiting a dairy farm in Ireland. Now I know it's good for me after reading this article: http://wholegreenlove.com/2013/05/30/3-reasons-your-body-needs-grass-fed-butter/
